view of the presentation for the Prix de Rome Sculpture 1992
in my studio at the Rijksakademie Amsterdam
left: ‘orgaoo’ and right, ‘blindfold’ 1992

this prize was in effect my coming out into the art world,
therefore, i chose stiff bridal satin as the main material
and made 7 pieces in this shiny textile, skin-colour on the inside and blueish white outside…
like ‘niké’ 1992, and this untitled piece (about 80 cm long):

and ‘pose’ and in the back: (untitled) 1992:

the light textile works were balanced by 2 works in clay,
my first two ceramic works ever: ‘balling’ 1992

and ‘blindfold’ 1992

i won the First Prize!

in 2022, from the very last scraps of this satin, I made this piece for the group show ‘The Anatomy Lesson, Revisited’, travelling exhibition 2023
VerteerWezen 20 (snowwhite revisited)’ 2022-2023

work made during this working period: ‘pose and untitled’ 1992 (satin) > ‘pose position’ 1992/1997 (photo) / ‘niké’ (satin and wire) / ‘balling’ (clay) / ‘blindfold’ (clay and wax) / ‘orgaoo’ (satin) /
