during my second year at the art school of Rotterdam (which is now the Willem de Kooning Academie)
in 1987-1988 i collaborated in the collective ‘PoGo’ with Annemiek Mion, Esther de Bruin and Nanette Diks on making experimental jewelry / wearable objects
partially as a critique of sculpture that i then (as critical art school student) perceived as a too static and too hierarchic…
we went to Scrap Rotterdam and bought many reject materials which we used in creating works, together with bones that i collected and wax
we photographed each other with them (mostly Nanette and Annemiek behind the camera) and we in the end even organised a show in collaboration with dancers, where we made the costumes and wearables and the whole art direction together
this collaboration was a blast and led to Annemiek and me applying to Rietveld Sieraad - we both got a epted but in the end i decidecd to stay in Rotterdam academy while she went to study there
testing various relations between my body and self-made objects in order to get away from traditional ‘sculpture’
