JIN means ‘human being’

when learning Japanese during my residency in CCA Kitakyushu 1998-1999, courtesy Mondriaan Fonds
i was intrigued by the various kanji (ideograms) used for ‘the body’ and their constituent elements,
taking these apart, analyzing,connecting interrelating
this helped me think about the various aspects of why i work with ‘the body’:
the body as container or materialisation of the self, of spirit, of person, as appearance
of the human as social being, connected with but different from fellow human beings, in transisation
