For the collection presentation ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS in Rijksmuseum Twenthe (RMT) 2018-2023, I was asked to make a selection of their collection and present some of my own works. Eight other artists were asked the same, a.o. L.A. Raeven, Silvia B., Anne Wenzel and Bart Hess. Each of us chose one of the 9 themes formulated by the museum, all concerning the ‘condition humaine’. I chose ‘Controle en Loslaten’ (control and letting go).
One of the first works of the collection that I chose, was Breitner’s ‘Girl in kimono’ because of her posture. This I combined with a new version of my cut vinyl wall piece ‘FeltFeld’ 2013. To the left: ‘revolving in this sheath of (im)possibilities’ 2011, now acquired for the RMT collection.

I also selected works by Mirjam de Zeeuw (‘Schone stof’ on the left), Adam Colton (the plaster Carving in the centre), Tracey Emin and Marlene Dumas.

As collaboration is truly fitting the content of this room, I also chose to present two works made together with artist Renée Kool: ‘Instruction.Sculptor.Sculpture 2011 - see above. And we decided to create new work for this exhibition specifically: ‘ …abordons un sujet délicat’ 2018, used glass, light, movement, and resulting projections - see below, in the back.
