i create starting from a core experience
of my existence in relation to others’
i focus on the physical, affect-rich responses i have to this

  • and to the concepts of what it means to manifest yourself.
by materializing these, i visualize what I call different ‘states of self’.
by photographing myself with these sculptures, the affect-rich objects
relate to my concrete physical body.

my work is the result
of becoming aware of ways in which the (feeling of) self
is formed in interaction with the body
and vice versa:
how the body,
its inner chaos, its posture, the ways it moves, the ways it is dressed and cared for
manifests
the prevailing fictions of self

in this interaction
both body and self are fragile and temporary,
open constructions, affect-rich vessels of exchange
modes of existence

my works are signs to convey these interactions
that, in turn,
enable new interchanges
between
‘you’
and
‘me’
